Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette Review and Swatches

Urban Decay released this beautiful warm toned palette for Summer 2017 and it's so gorgeous! As soon as I saw the colors I knew I had to get my hands on this. This palette retails for $54.

I love the brushes that the naked palettes come with. This brush was no exception. It's soft and blends beautifully!

Ounce:  a light peach base nude with irridescent shimmer, was slightly translucent with a soft finish.
Chaser: neutral, light, tan with a satin finish. great color for transition or base color.
Sauced: a light tan with a matte finish.
Low Blow: neutral light to medium toned caramel brown with a matte finish.
Lumbre: soft, light coral pink  with a gold shift and shimmery finish.
He Devil: warm terracotta with a matte finish.
Dirty Talk: warm, orange-red based copper with shimmer finish.
Scorched: pink based copper with glitter and shimmer finish.
Cayenne: warm midtone rustic brown with a matte finish.
En Fuego: midtone burgundy with matte finish.
Ashes: Chocolate brown with a plum undertone and a matte finish.
Ember: Cool toned, dark ashy brown with gold and pink shift and shimmer finish.

Overall, it was a hit and miss with this palette. I think the two eyeshadows that needed work and DEFINITELY needed a primer was Ashes and En Fuego. These two were the only ones that were very dry in texture. They were very blendable but as you can see in the photo above, they did not perform well with a brush and no primer. They needed a primer as well as being built up in color. However, they were still workable. That being said, I think Urban Decay really needs to step it up, seeing how so many other companies are producing well rounded palettes such as the Anastasia Beverly Hills palette which has no duds with any of the eyeshadows. In other words, I would have liked to see some more consistency in the mattes.
Another thing I noticed with this palette is how some of the shades are a little too similar to one another so it was a little difficult to get really contrasting eyelooks from this palette. I think UD could have skipped on Cayenne and had a true gold in here. Lumbre is STUNNING but since it has those copper undertones it doesn't contrast as much as a gold would. So in my opinion, Cayenne (even though it's gorgeous) should have been dropped as well Sauced (since it's similar to Low Blow) and add a light shimmering gold and a midtone neutral burnt mustard yellow instead to add some variation while still maintaining that "heat theme".
Other than those two issues, I still think this is a very beautiful palette and one I would still use and love because I simply love these kind of colors. The rest of the eyeshadows are all so creamy and smooth and beautifully pigmented. These colors are right on trend. I would say it's very comparable in terms of colors to the Morphe 35O if you interested a more affordable and better deal.

PROS:
-good urban decay price value
-brush is very good
-travel friendly
-cruelty free
-permanent

CONS:
-not enough contrast between colors
-Ashes and En Fuego were uneven, dry and had to be worked up with

Sephora VIB ROUGE Birthday Gift 2017

Hi peeps! Finally! I always feel like I'm the last person to get the Sephora Birthday gift even though it's obviously not true since we are halfway through the year. I'm just always so excited for it! This year for Sephoras VIB ROUGE Birthday Gift, I picked Tarte's Amazonian Clay 12 Hour blush in Paaarty and Tarte's Tartiest Lip Paint in Birthday Suit, both which are deluxe sizes.

Tartiest Lip Paint in Birthday Suit, Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Paaarty
I do kind of wish this was better suited to more different skin tones. I felt it works beautifully on me but thats only because I'm pretty light. Other than that, I think this selection of products, both blush and lip product was a really cute gift this year! :)

Thank you for stopping by, have a great week!

Kat Von D Blotting Powder in Light Review

Hi everyone! Today I wanted to review the new Kat Von D Blotting Powder. I have to admit. The packaging totally sucked me in. But other than that.. I'm a huge sucker for Kat Von D makeup just as a whole. The company itself is just awesome so without further ado, here is the Kat Von D Blotting Powder which retails for $29. There are four shades: Fair, Light, Medium and Deep. I only have Light.

Butters helped model for me again!
The compact is so beautiful! It looks like a black, wax seal with the Kat Von D logo
This compact comes with a very nice mirror that is pretty much the entire size of the compact, which I love! It's really handy for when you're on the go! It also comes with a thin sponge to keep within the compact.

I actually really liked this product. It did exactly what it was made to do which is to touch up makeup and help keep the face matte. It is not a foundation and it's not meant to be which explains why it has such sheer coverage. I bought this specifically for touch ups and to keep in my makeup bag when I'm on the go and not necessarily to set my foundation although I can use it for that as well.
The texture is beautiful and silky. It's so soft and applies evenly and smoothly on the skin using both a brush and the sponge it comes with.
The pan is also removable from the compact. On the bottom of the compact is a tiny hole in which you can poke a needle or a paper clip to push out the pan. It makes depotting so much easier if you do wish to depot it into a palette.
Since it is sheer, I think thats why there isn't that many shades to choose from. Being a sheer powder, helps the translucent powder blend into your skintone much more easily. I would however would like to see at least two more shades in the range, specifically some darker shades.

PROS:
-comes with mirror
-keeps face matte
-good for touch ups (sheer powder)
-vegan
-cruelty free
-cute packaging!
-easier to depot

CONS:
-would like to see a few more shades available (only four shades available)

Thank you for stopping by! Hope you guys have a fantastic week! :)

Sample Sunday... would I purchase it? Bite Beauty Multistick

Happy Sunday! Well very late Sunday but still nonetheless Sunday! :) I have been going through my makeup collection and I really want to and need to start putting my samples to good use. Samples are a great way to try something before purchasing or all together stop your impulse buy. This is just my own quick, first impressions on a product and to let you guys know if I am interested in actually buying a product.

And todays product is... Bite Beauty Multistick. I absolutely love Bite Beautys lip products. So is this on my next wish list? Keep reading to find out! :)

At this point in time, I wouldn't purchase it. Simply because it isn't for me. This is a cream to powder finish. So since I personally prefer powders over liquid or cream products on the cheeks, it just doesn't suit my personal needs. And since it does have that that powder finish, it doesn't leave my lips how I like it. The lips definitely has a powdery almost dry feeling. This does have a satin finish and the texture of the sample in the plastic well is hard which doesn't surprise me since this is a face product as well. I wasn't expecting it to be too creamy. That being said the product was picked up very easily with both a finger and brush. It's also safe to say that this is very pigmented and very blendable.

I think this product is much more suitable for someone on the go or someone who prefers a smaller makeup collection.

Are you interested in or have bought the Bite Beauty Multistick?

Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter and Glow Liquid Eyeshadow in Kitten Karma review and swatch

Hi peeps! So this is something I have been seeing quite frequently on youtube with rave reviews. I thought hmmm.... a glitter thats easy to use? I love glitters but I get impatient applying them. So I thought I would give this a whirl!

The Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter and Glow Liquid Eyeshadow retails for $24 and comes with 4.5ml

Overall, this is a fantastic product! Just think about it, it's like getting three products in one: the eyeshadow base color, the glitter adhesive and the glitter itself. The eyeshadow base color or the pigmentation that you can see above helps the glitter not look so scarce. I would say the pigmentation is medium which is good enough since the glitter is going to be up front and center. The adhesive for the glitter is already provided to you! I did not have to use any form of glitter glue whatsover! And then there is the glitter itself. This is such a great product for people who love shimmers and glitter but have difficulty or don't have the time to apply glitter the traditional way. This cuts time and products. I cannot stress enough what an amazing product this is. The only downside I would say is that this is definitely not waterproof so be aware of that. Another thing I would like to point out is that there is very minimal glitter fallout throughout the day.

Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter and Glow Liquid Eyeshadow in Kitten Karma on lid
I took the above photo slightly blurry to try to capture some of the glitter. If you have ever tried to photograph glitter you know how hard it can be lol! Photos don't do it justice!

These are what the MakeupGeek Sparklers wish they were, both a pigment and glitter. These however take it up a notch and apply in one swipe, no extra adhesive needed. Take my word for it, this is a such a beautiful product. Great for parties and for whenever you want to glam up your eyes. I will definitely be buying some more shades once the VIB sale comes around. Give these a try if you are into glitters, you won't regret it!

PROS:
-very easy to work and use
-beginner friendly for glitter users
-pigmented/ there is pigmentation and not just glitter
-glitter is not scarce
-no need for adhesive
-minimal fallout

CONS:
-not waterproof

Hope you guys have a wonderful day!

A Calling for Chroma: Burnt Dreams

Happy Hump day:) I am back today with a new set up of my color schemes:) I just got a new app called ColorviewFinder available on the iphone. It's pretty cool and totally helps you find some inspiring color combinations. So I found this yellow rose in my front garden and I really love the colors that came up out of it. They remind me so much of my beloved Melt Cosmetics Rust Stack where the colors are super warm with a lot of yellow and red undertones. My absolute fave shades to go to as of lately. Colors like this would looks super lovely on brown and blue eyes as well as people with yellow undertones in their skin.

Hope you guys have a great rest of the week:)

Eye of the Day: Love Potion

Hi everyone and Happy Valentines Day :) Well I'm posting a day early since I won't have any time to post tomorrow on actual valentines but you know what I mean :)Now whether you celebrate Valentines day or not, here is a look that I came up with that would look especially nice if you have brown, hazel or green eyes. It's pretty dark so something like this I would feel a little more comfortable wearing out at night or to a party. I used the Kat Von D Alchemist Palette and I gotta say that palette is starting to warm up to me, not gonna lie.
  • Urban Decay Primer Potion in Original all over lid
  • Kat Von Shade and Light Quad in Plum ( base shade) as the transition shade
  • SugarPill eyshadow in 2am in crease
  • Coastal Scents Hot Pot in Deep Grape in crease. Leave Sugarpill 2am higher in crease but still lower than Kat Von D Plum Base color. Take Coastal Scents in Deep Grape lower in crease than Sugarpill 2am to create a sort of gradient effect in the crease.
  • Take Coastal Scents Hot Pot in Deep Grape and also add it to the inner corner and outer corner of the eyelid.
  • Take any black ( I used a little of Urban Decay Blackout and added it also to the inner corner and outer corner to deepen the "halo effect"
  • Apply Colourpop SuperShock Shadow in Just for Fun on the center of lid
  • Kat Von D Alchemist Palette in the shade Opal on top of Colourpops Just for fun
  • Kat Von D Opal also in tearduct area.
  • Urban Decay Blackout on lower lashline
  • Essence Super Fine Waterproof Eyeliner Pen for Cat eyeliner
  • Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara
  • Ardell Individuals Medium Black Lashes
Any questions, comments or concerns please feel free to contact me :)

Kat Von D Alchemist Holographic Palette Review

Hello everyone! Happy Sunday :) Today I am back with a review featuring the Alchemist Palette. I have been soo freaking excited about this palette since... leaked images of it surfaced online almost two years ago. Kat has claimed to develop this all new formula to create iridescent powders to be used as eyeshadow toppers or highlighters. So how did it come out?

This palette is available on both  Sephoras website and Kat Von D Beauty website and retails for $32.
Left to right ( Green-Emerald, Ultra Violet- Amethyst, Blue-Sapphire, Pink-Opal)
Left to Right swatched over Kat Von D Shax ( Green-Emerald, Ultra Violet-Amethyst, Blue-Sapphire, Pink-Opal)
I cannot stress enough how disappointed I am in this product for a few good reasons. All the swatches above are all done using fingers and not brushes. I tried a flat synthetic brush, normal haired brushes and the pigments would barely show up. The best way to pick up color was to use a fluffy brush like one you would use for blending or simply use your fingers. So, packing on the color on the center of the lid with a brush was simple out of the question. I could not get the pigment to show up! I had to use my fingers to pack on the pigment. I understand that the shades are supposed to be translucent and iridescent but I would have liked the colors to pop out a little more without having to use my fingers.

That being said, since these powders were picked up well with a fluffy brush, these applied very well as a face highlighter and the pigment showed up remarkably much better than on the eye. All of the shades worked great for this purpose.

Overall, I was extremely let down because I really wanted to use this mainly on the lid and without having to use my fingers. I am also very underwhelmed with the size of the pans. For something that is advertised as both an eye and face palette, this is a very small amount especially when you compare it to the Anastasia Beverly Hills MoonChild palette which has bigger pans, more color selections thus also having a better price value which is $40. I do not own the Moonchild palette so I cannot comment on its quality but I would recommend you consider the Anastasia Beverly Hills Moon Child palette before purchasing the Kat Von D palette.

I also prefer Sugarpills Loose Eyeshadow in the shade Lumi. Lumi is also an iridescent shadow which I personally found easier to work with even though it has more glitter particles in it.

The Alchemist palette an average palette and I will still definitely work with it but I am not as happy with it as I thought I was going to be.

PROS:
-cute and unique packaging
-great concept.
-comes with a mirror

CONS:
-not as pigmented as I would like them to be.
-not a good price value of $32 for 4 x0.05oz of product
-marketed as a face palette yet the shadows are standard eyeshadow sizes
-eyeshadows work best used with a fluffy brush or fingers

I hope you guys have a lovely sunday and an even lovelier rest of the week :)
Thank you for stopping by:)

Sephora VIB ROUGE 2017 Welcome Gift

Happy New Years! Cheers to a busy year but hopefully a more productive one! I am finally back after a much needed hiatus. I prefer not to go into too much details about why I've been gone but I can say I am very happy to be back doing something I love and talking to you guys, my readers! <3 Without any further ado, let's get right into this!

So Sephora gives a VIB ROUGE welcome gift everytime you achieve VIB ROUGE status whether its your first time or your tenth year in a row. Everytime you spend $1000 in a calendar year, you get welcome gift into VIB ROUGE for the next year. So since I spent $1000 last year, I have been able to maintain my ROUGE status as well as getting this little freebie from Sephora.

This years freebie is a deluxe sized NARS Blush in the shade Goulue.
SEPHORA VIB ROUGE 2017 WELCOME GIFT
NARS Blush in Goulue
NARS Blush in Goulue is a Sephora VIB ROUGE exclusive color meaning only ROUGE members have access to that color. I was so happy to see it wasn't something like Nars Orgasm. Orgasm is in pretty much every single NARS palette or Sephora favorites. If you shop at Sephora, chances are you may already have NARS Orgasm, so I was relieved when I saw this specific shade. Goulue is a absolutely beautiful deep warm toned rose with gold shimmer. It's a lot darker and a lot more of a deep pink shade than Orgasm. I actually really loved this shade. I thought it was going to be too dark especially since I'm more of a neutral or nude blush kind of girl but with a light hand, this turned out to be one of my favorite pink blushes. That being said, this would work great with any skin tone.

Thank you so much for sticking around. My life has been quite hectic with some health issues, work and school. I ended up not taking a spring class as I have reluctantly accepted the fact that it would just be too much on my plate. So again, thank you so much for sticking around.

Love always,
Wicked Honey Bee
