Bambi Halloween Makeup

Halloween is that day that witches, little kids and makeup addicts rejoice over. It is such a fun and creative night to be something so unlike yourself. Everyday should be Halloween!
This year I decided to be a my interpretation of Bambi complete with a yellow "butterfly" and antlers. I have always had a fascination with deer and with Bambi himself. I love the film and the quality of innocence it possesses.
I did not want it to look cartoonish. I really wanted to incorporate the themes of Bambi such as the yellow butterfly, warm fall tones, the forest and his spots while keeping it as a makeup look. Lots of contouring and highlighting is involved. I purchased the antlers off of ebay and the flowers, berries and butterfly from Dollar Tree.
Whether you celebrate Halloween or not, I hope you all have safe and happy night. Cheers to everyone!

Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip Midi Review

In the shade, "Midi"
There has been such a craze over liquid lipsticks lately and with good reason! With all these new brands coming out with liquid lipsticks, it can be difficult to choose one that you will like. Most of my liquid lipsticks are Kat Von D's fabulous line of liquid lipsticks. I absolutely love them! I happen to also love the brand Colourpop, so when I heard they were releasing a new line of liquid lipsticks I had to try it. I ended up picking up a beautiful beige nude. Soooo, how did it perform?

These can be found exclusively on Colourpops website, Colourpop.com Their Ultra Matte Lip retails for $6 and comes with 1 oz of product.

Some packaging issues right off the bat which I will discuss below...

I do not recommend this particular shade to anyone, at all. I love Colourpop and I am always gushing about all their other products especially their fabulous eyeshadows. Midi had so much potential to be such a beautiful nude but the quality of it, makes it unable to be used. It cracks immediately after it dries with any mouth movement, which includes talking. So you can forget about eating and drinking water. After it starts to crack, it begins to flake off in little pieces. It is without a doubt, the worst liquid lipstick I have tried and it sucks to say that because again, I love Colourpop. This however, will not work for anyone and is not even worth the $6. It needs a complete reformulation as well as a stopper. The first time I had tried Midi, I ended up spilling it on my desk and I have never had that happen with any other lipgloss, ever. The color is pretty but completely unusable. I can't even give it away to my mom or someone like that.

If anyone has tried any of their other shades please let me know how they worked out for you.

PROS:
-cute packaging
-wearable nude for light to light-medium skintones
-affordable

CONS:
-No stopper within tube
-doefoot feels slightly hard
-shade Midi is too dry
-cracks immediately
-flakes off with any mouth movement

Is it a dupe? ColourPop SuperShock Shadow in Plunge Vs. Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal

Ever go through your collection and think to yourself...I think I've seen the color before... If you are an avid makeup junkie collector, chances are yes. Now does that mean you've just got yourself a dupe? Now THAT is the question I'm asking myself today. I love Colourpop shadows so much. So when I noticed that Plunge looked strangely similar in color to Becca's cult favorite Opal, I had to bust them out together to compare. Here's the dirt.
ColourPop Super Shock Shadow in Plunge, Becca Opal Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal
Colourpop Supershock eyeshadow in Plunge, Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal
Colourpop Super Shock Shadow in Plunge, Becca Shimmering Skin Perfecter in Opal
95% DUPE. These are incredibly, incredibly similar but not perfect dupes. It really all comes down to a hairline of a difference. Opal is slightly darker and warmer while Plunge is slightly lighter and more of a neutral champagne. Could you substitute one for the other? Absolutely.

BECCA SHIMMERING SKIN PERFECTOR "OPAL"
  • Warmer, darker
  • Powder
  • 8 grams
  • Best used with a brush
  • $38
COLOURPOP SUPERSHOCK SHADOW "PLUNGE"
  • lighter, neutral champagne
  • Cream
  • 2.1 grams
  • Best used with finger
  • $5
Have you found any good dupes lately? :)

Urban Decay Travel-Size set of 5 Delirious

I must confess I am an Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Pencils lover and it's okay. You know why? Because they are freaking good, that's why. So when I saw this set, naturally I had to have it. These are just my kind of colors. Jewel tones. I can't live without them. So, in this set you get 5 travel sized pencils each with 0.03oz of product and this retails for $29 on the Sephora website. I believe Ulta carries the other version of this set which has more neutral friendly colors.

Perversion: most beautiful blackest, matte pitch black. This is a staple for me.
Zodiac: moss green with gold and green glitter
Delirious: eggplant purple with warm undertones and pink glitter
Accuse: true royal blue with aqua glitter
Muse: neutral brown with gold shimmer.

Final Verdict:
First thing I thought of when I saw the color selection was of the Urban Decay Smoked palette (not to be confused with the recently released smoky palette.) You get a pitch black, a brown and a jeweled tone purple, blue, and green. I like the fact that the jewel tones have glitter in them instead of just shimmer because it makes them more festive and more alive and that's something that works well for the holidays. The glitter is not chunky by the way and does not interfere with how the eyeliner itself performs.

It's a great set for people barely getting into Urban Decay or trying out their 24/7 Glide-On Liners for the first time. However, if you are a UD veteran then you may already know... you may or may not need these. If you have some of their 24/7 Glide-On sets like the Ocho Loco or last years Ten.. then you may already have some similar colors. Delirious reminds me a lot of Voodoo while Zodiac reminds me of a cross between Apathy and Mars. Perversion can be found in many different sets.  I believe I have like 4 Perversions from other Urban Decay palettes I have gotten. However these all performed beautifully like all their other 24/7 Glide On Pencils and I still recommend them even if you have a ton of 24/7 Glide On Pencils. I don't see the quality any less than from their permanent line which is always a plus especially when working with holiday sets.

PROS:
-Water resistant
-Good variation of colors
-consistent quality
-great for gifting

CONS:
-similar colors to previous holiday sets

Tarte Bling it On Amazonian Clay Blush Palette

I have been anticipating Tarte's holiday blush palette for awhile now. I have their last years blush palette and I loved it, so naturally... I needed this one as well. I even skipped Tarte's recent 30% off their website because I knew I wanted to purchase this palette and this is more than enough for me. I need to manage my money wisely especially with the holidays coming up!
Tarte's Bling it on Blush palette retails for $44 on the Sephora website and comes with five 0.15 oz blush. The blushes are encased in a slim, black, sequined palette. This is limited edition.
Fetching, Dollface, Prim, Smashing, Beaming
Fetching: medium rose
Dollface: bright pink with blue undertones
Prim: Nude peach
Smashing: medium pink coral
Beaming: light apricot with sparse glitter chunks

Judgement Call:
This is a great gift to give for the holidays. It's a good price for what it is and I do think the colors are universally flattering, minus one of the shades which needed a good build-up and would still only work for light skin tones. Beaming does not have the same consistency as the other four and the palette could certainly do without it. It's too sheer with unnecessary glitter in it. I guess on certain people it could work as a natural highlight to the face. I could wear Beaming as a light blush shade if I apply it heavily and that's with me being a NC15-NC20.The other shades are very reminiscent from last years palette. Not exactly identical but I feel Tarte used last years palette as a guide to tweek the undertones and deepness and lightness of some shades. That being said, the colors as a palette work because of the variance. You get a nude, rose, coral, peach, and bright pink which covers the basics of blush very well making it an ideal palette to take for travel. The packaging itself was not well thought out. I already had some sequins fall off within minutes of handling the palette. They got mostly on my hands but I had one or two on my face and leg.
If you already have last years palette... I would skip on this one. I liked last years better. This isn't their most impressive blush palette.

PROS:
-Varies in colors
-great for gift giving
-beautiful pigmentation and quality on 4 out of the 5 blushes
-Slim packaging
-names written on palette itself

CONS:
-sequin packaging falls off
-one shade is not consistent with the others and would be very hard for medium to dark skin tones to use.

The Five Essential Tips and Tricks to Wearing Blue Eyeshadow

"I can't wear blue eyeshadow"

"It doesn't look good on me"

" I cant pull it off fml"

Blue eyeshadow is just one of those shades that can look so incredibly stunning or it can look just plain tacky. However, it can look good on anyone. Don't believe me? Here are five of my favorite methods of using blue on the eyes.

1. Combine with neutrals
This includes a GOOD neutral blending and crease color. Color is good but sometimes too much color is just too much for some people. Neutrals such as browns, taupes, and grays help tone down the eye look and keeping some naturalness to the eye and overall appearance. Use a natural nude lip along with a natural shade of blush accordingly to your level of comfort for color.

2. Use Blues on your water line/lashline.
This one is really fun and the perfect time to go crazy with as bright as a blue that you want. I guarantee this will look good on everyone.
For some added fun. You can do some gradient blues, starting with a navy or royal blue on the outer lower lash line, add some midtone blue to the middle of the lower lashline, then some light blue to the inner lower lashline and end with your highlight color of your choice in your tearduct!

3. Combine with your corresponding skins undertone
Lets face it. Makeup is all about putting whatever hell you want to on your face. The sky is the limit and there is no right or wrong way to do makeup but at the same time we want something that enhances our eyes and compliments our facial features and structure. This is when undertone comes into play. I am NC15-NC20 and I look best in warm colors which includes gold. So what I would do is use a blue and use gold or any other warm colors. Someone with a cool undertone could try using a silver or any other cool toned shadows paired with their blue. If you are neutral you could try either gold or silver or even a champagne.

4. Use blues that lean to a neutral or a different color.
Navy instead of black, blue-gray instead of just gray. It doesn't have to be an obnoxious shade of blue. Just take mauve for an example. Keeping it as basic as possible, mauve is a purple shade BUT it can lean gray, brown, nude or pink. You still get that effect on the eye that you are wearing a purple color but the tone it is and the color it leans towards, makes it so much more easier to wear with more things.

5. Use small amounts at a time.
It doesn't always have to be the obvious, "I'm brave today world, look at blue eyeshadow, can you see my blue eyeshadow?" Less can do the trick just as good. Have fun incorporating it into your liner or even eyelashes.Use small amounts at a time and that will also help you to gradually get more comfortable using some mermaid teals and royal blues!

And here is an extra tip... wink wink...just have fun with it ;)

I would love to see any of your blue eyeshadow looks! Feel free to post a link down in the comments below for me to see and let me know if you follow any of these tricks or found this post helpful. Thanks for stopping by!

Welcome to Sephora VIB Rouge 2016

This... is almost shameful for me to post but in my defense, not everything I've bought at Sephora was for me! Some stuff I bought for gifts for other people but... most of the stuff I've bought from Sephora this year... has been for me. eek!

ANYWAYS! After we are done grieving all that money I spent on Sephora, let's proceed to what this is. Sephora has a Beauty Insiders reward program, a VIB reward program and ultimately a VIB ROUGE rewards program. The VIB ROUGE rewards program is their ultimate rewards program which features free 2nd day shipping, exclusive products, early releases, bigger discounts than the BI rewards program, exclusive shopping events, etc. In order to be a VIB ROUGE member, you must have spent at $1,000 between January 1st to December 31st. There's a lot of perks.

I received this welcoming 2016 gift because I maintained and ensured my VIB ROUGE status until the end of next year in 2016 ( I was VIB ROUGE last year as well). Hence my embarrassment at spending at least $1,000 just at Sephora this year already.

This is an exlusive shade made especially for the VIB ROUGE program. They alternate brands every year. For 2015 they used a Bite beauty product I believe? Which brings me to this. This year they used a Marc Jacobs lipstick in the shade So Rouge. The full size is available to VIB Rouge members only and will be limited edition.

It's a beautiful deep red with some settled brown undertones similar to MACs Viva Glam 1. It's beautiful and the formula is fantastic. Creamy and saturated with color.

Questions, comments, concerns? Leave 'em here and have a happy and safe rest of the week everyone!

Sephora Favorites Give Me More Lip 2015

Welcome back everyone! I love how the holidays are coming up around the corner and I'm even more stoked at all these holiday kits coming out. The Sephora Favorites Give Me More Lip was something I bought kind of on a whim. I got at first mostly because I thought it was a good deal. As I was anxiously stalking it through the postal service, I became more and more excited about it and I'm happy to say... it does not disappoint.

There are a total of 15 lip products in this kit. Four out of those fifteen are full sized while the remaining eleven are deluxe sizes ( or minis if you would like to call them that). This set costs $59 and has a value of $197.

This kit includes:
  • Bite Beauty Matte Lip Crayon in Cognac (deluxe)

Tarte Lipsurgence Skintuitive Lip Gloss in Energy- almost clear, that intensifies to a natural pink gloss once on lips.
Laura Mercier Creme Smooth Lip Colour in Milky Way - neutral, nude midtone brown lipstick with a creamy finish.

I highly recommend this. Plain and simple. Although, the kit has quite a few various shades of pinks, it still has a great variety that ranges from vampy shades, reds, corals, and nudes. As much as I would have personally liked to see some natural nudes, I have to look at it in a universal perspective, and I've got to say that this kit will work for so many, many different skin tones and undertones. That being said, well done Sephora for using these shades as they will reach a wide audience!
Apart from variety, yet universally friendly, of colors, you also get a good variety of formulas and finishes. You get some gloss, traditional lipsticks, crayon lip colors, balms, plumping glosses and even a velvet finish! This was my first time trying the Ciate Liquid Lip Velvet and omg, I think I already know whats going on my VIB Rogue sale wishlist. I LOVE the texture, the finish and the color!
I am always wary of deluxe sizes... as you can get them, depending when and where, for free. However, this set has four full size products which does equal to more than $59. Already right there you get more bang for your buck!

PROS:
-try out different brands
-try out different formulas, textures and finishes,
-good variety of colors
-four full sized products
-universally friendly color selections
-can reuse gold box it comes in for personal use
-gift friendly

CONS:
-could have used some more nudes
